MCS 2000 Model I 68P81083C48-B General Information With the MCS 2000 Model I you have chosen an excellent mobile radio. Double check the cable and that could be your issue. Description: This is a Motorola MCS2000 model 3 mobile radio. Thats what I deserve for buying a RIB from E-bay, but I dont program motorola radios that often so what I have works for me.

They both look the same, but you cant use one for both operations for some reason, even though the cables from motorola are the same. One works for mobiles, the other for the repeater. (Stupid, but its because the CPS also updates the radios firmware which may not work properly with older CPS versions which sort of makes sense)Īnother cause could be fake/improper programing cables. For instance, If the radio was programed once using a version 03.01.00 your CPS wont read the radio. If you use a newer CPS to program a radio, you must always use that CPS or newer, you cant roll back to a previous version. Motorola isnt like other radio softwares. C-EB30-MCS-1P-A - Angled 1-Piece Equipment Mounting Angled Bracket, 3 Mounting Space, Fits Motorola MCS 2000. This should give you the proper com port you need. To figure out which com port you need, go to device manager and look under USB Controllers. I suspect you have the wrong com port selected. Recess mounting this type of control head wont let you see it easily.

The wire harness comes out of the top back portion of the head. Using USB cables usually puts you around com port 3 or 4, not 1. Thin, flat clamshell-style control heads like Motorola A-3, or GE Ranger S-550 have round knobs which require access to both the top and bottom of the control face. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola). GSM-R, Global System for Mobile Communications Railway or GSM-Railway is an international. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The trunked package is in upwards of 2,500. Most likely cause that I see is that you have com port 1 selected. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming.

Feel free to point me to another thread if there is one somewhere.First, make sure the radio is on (I know its a given if you have programmed radios previously but sometimes people forget) I'm sure people have done this before on this board, but I couldn't find it via the search.

Is it a straight up 4Ohm, 8Ohm, ? output? Is it differential and not tied to the chassis gnd? I guess I just don't know what is "on" that 2 pin connector. What I need to know is if there is anything special I need to do to connect the audio from the speaker connector in the control head cable into a regular old 4Ohm speaker (i.e. It requires an external 9VDC battery (not supplied), which should be connected to the DC lead fitted to the DB9 plug. I understand from previous threads I've read that there are some tricky things dealing with the audio output from the MCS brains that would normally feed a passive or active speaker. This programming cable is designed for quick and easy programming of Motorola MCS2000 mobile transceiver. The internal converter circuit board mounted in the DB9 plug. I don't mess much with Motorola radios other than installing them "like normal" in our rigs when needed. Instead, he would like to have a hidden switch to toggle one or two of the stereo speakers in the front doors (probably front right) to be radio audio when desired, with the option to send it back to the stereo (but it would mostly be used as a dedicated communications radio speaker). My idea of "hide it" or "find a smaller speaker" didn't cure his itch for a "clean" install. He doesn't have a lot of room (? - it's an Expedition.) and doesn't like the size of the Moto speaker.
